Buonaccorso di Luigi Pitti

oil on canvas, framed, some defects
cm 105x85
With inscription on recto: Buonaccorso di Luigi Pitti, uno de quattro capitani della militia di cittadini fiorentini 1529 The following technical sheet of the work was created by Professor Sandro Bellesi as part of the inventory of the paintings of the Fattoria Franceschini. The work, in a fairly good state of conservation beyond the blurring of the external protective patina due to the passage of time, illustrates, almost to the height of the junction of the legs, a character of the Pitti House, who, as indicated by the inscription shown on the canvas, he played the role of militia captain at the end of the twenties of the sixteenth century, or at the time of the Second Florentine Republic before the return of the Medici to Tuscany and their appointment as dukes of the state. Assignable to an anonymous artist active in the early seventeenth century, the painting seems to follow the teachings of the Passignano school, especially those of Nicodemo Ferrucci's pupil.
