The PYRAE-Project has its creative roots in the aesthetical visions of the designers Luca Nichetto and Ben Gorham, who matched their design and creative project with the finest artistic craftsmanship of the Murano-glass Masters operating inside the historical and prestigious Factory Salviati. The original project was composed by a 53 lighting totems: artistic and functional creations produced with the combination of multiple glass forms giving as a result unique chromatic combinations on impressive structural forms. Each Pyrae in an Author's Proof, produced as an absolutely unique and non-replicable piece. The lighting totems in mouth-blown glass have been displayed for the first time at the 2017 Milan Design Week during the architectural Fuorisalone 2017 event at the Ventura Design Center, a meeting and exhibition point created by the Dutch designer Margriet Vollenberg to give space to international renowned artists, designers, and architects. The pieces are actually part of the wider artistic project Decode/Recode by Luca Nichetto and Ben Gorham for Salviati. The lighting totems Pyrae stand out today as Collection-pieces taking their inspiration from the fascination created by the imaginative vision of the different human forms towards the multiple historical, ethnical, and cultural forms.
