With inscription on reverse: M.° Giusto With other inscription on the wooden structure of the canvas. The following technical sheet of the work was created by Professor Sandro Bellesi as part of the inventory of the paintings of the Fattoria Franceschini. The work, depicting a portrait of a woman vaguely evoking the Grand Duchess of Tuscany Maria Maddalena of Austria in the features of her face, is of modest execution. On the basis of the style characters, this can be assigned to the Tuscan School of the early seventeenth century. The inscription «M. Giusto », present on the back of the canvas, would tend to recognize Giusto Suttermans, the Medici portraitist as the author of the work: an indication that is anything but appropriate given the very low quality of the painting.
