The following technical sheet of the work was created by Professor Sandro Bellesi as part of the inventory of the paintings of the Fattoria Franceschini. The work, in fair conditions of conservation, is part of a series, perhaps once more extensive, consisting of half-length female portraits. Unlike the other examples belonging to the series, this one, albeit depicting a noblewoman with typical clothes of the mid-eighteenth century, shows a more undone and less guarded painting and style characters not relevant to the European painting of the time. On the basis of these considerations, it seems appropriate to refer the canvas in question to an anonymous artist, probably Florentine, working in the first half of the nineteenth century and emulating, in his language, paintings from the previous century.
