Vintage cast iron column fountain, Fonderia G. Basile
Palermo, first half of the 20th century

h 125x40x40 cm
The founder of the foundry family was Gaetano Basile (1860-1919), art master and cousin of the architect Giovan Battista, author of the Teatro Massimo.
At the end of the 19th century, Gaetano, after having been head of the artistic section of the Oretea Foundry for years, owned by the Florio family, decided to make the most of the experience he had acquired and open his own foundry. At the beginning it was a modest place in the locality but soon the space available was insufficient and, in 1914, the factory moved to its definitive location, in a vast area between Corso dei Mille and via Archirafi.
To be collected in Prato.
